Overview
The Chalet Assistant / Masseuse supports chalet teams as required (the specific chalet will vary, depending on occupancies) during breakfast service, housekeeping and evening turndown. He/she reports to the Chalet Manager of the chalet where he/she is working/
In the afternoons/evenings, he / she provides an afternoon / evening massage / physiotherapy / osteopathy service for Purple Ski guests.
On changeover day, generally supports with chalet changeover but may also be required to provide airport transfers for Purple Ski guests.
Previous Experience
Must be a fully qualified and registered physiotherapist, osteopath,sports therapist or sports and remedial massage specialist with at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
Must have significant hands-on experience in the hotel and catering industry, e.g., chambermaiding and/or waitressing, ideally in high level establishments (5* hotels, 2 AA rosette level restaurants).
Driving licence and at least 3 years driving experience is essential.
Good spoken French is desirable.
The hours are long and the job is physically and emotionally demanding and you need to be good at working both alone and as part of a team. You must have extremely high work standards, be self-starting, customer-focused, flexible, self motivated, take pride in your work at all times and be conscientious.
Main Duties
Service : General
- Creates a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all guests
- Is available to answer any questions, or resolve any problems that the guests may have, always aiming to do whatever they reasonably can to ensure that guests have the best possible skiing holiday, whether on or off the slopes. To enable this, is knowledgeable about the resort, its facilities, the Purple Ski website and the Staff Manual.
- Ensures that all guests are provided with welcome literature and emergency contact cards
- On changeover day, helps clients arrange servicing and/or hire of ski equipment, also ski lessons etc. as required
- Helps ensure an effective handover to the relief team (who provide cover on your day off) so that the standard of service is maintained

- On an exceptional basis (in the event of staff absence/sickness etc.), provides emergency driving cover as required
Service : Housekeeping
- Ensures that excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in/around the chalet at all times, including at end of season. Cleans and tidies the following areas daily (kitchen, food storage areas and dining room/area are the
chef's responsibility):
- Vacuums and/or mops floors/carpets in all rooms and corridors
- Refreshes sofa and other cushions
- Makes beds
- Tidies guests' bedrooms
- Cleans bathroom sanitary-ware and surfaces
- Cleans interior and exterior of windows as necessary
- Ensures that all household equipment is maintained in the best possible condition; reports and arranges any repairs and replacements promptly to the Supplies and Maintenance Manager.
- Washes and irons "small" linen such as napkins, tablecloths, chef's whites etc, tea towels etc.
- Launders guest personal clothing as required
- On changeover day, works closely with all others on the chalet team to do whatever is needed to ensure a smooth and pleasant transition for the guests and efficient changeover for staff. Changes all linen and towels, thoroughly cleans chalet.
- Changes bath and hand towels mid-week
- Washes up and polishes all glasses, crockery, cutlery and pans etc
- Counts and bags up used linen/laundry ready for collection, labels bags, completes checklist(s). When clean laundry is returned, verifies receipts against the checklist and puts it away. Reports any issues (loss/damage etc.) to owners
- Performs "turndown" in the evenings (during dinner and after completing massage duties)
- Helps sets up and close down the chalets at the start and end of the season
Service : Meals/Drinks/Other
- Helps the chef in the preparation of breakfast as required. Also serves, clears and washes up.
- Helps ensure that the guests' bar/fridge is fully stocked at all times
- Helps ensure that a bowl of fresh fruit is available to guests at all times
- When not required for massages, supports the chalet team with afternoon and evening service
Service : Massage
- Promotes massage services to all guests at the start of their week and throughout as necessary
- For 5 days per week, provides massage services to guests (before dinner only) as required. Ensures health questionnaire is properly completed and reviewed before commencing treatment.
- Washes all towels etc. used for massage services.
- Takes payment for massages fom guests and provides weekly reports to owners on work done.
